A potential transfer deal between a Premier League club and Victor Boniface has hit a roadblock as the player reveals his preference for German and Spanish football over the English Premier League.
Rumors suggest that Chelsea is eyeing a significant attacking signing in the upcoming season, with Boniface emerging as a prime target after impressing with Bayer Leverkusen in the previous season.
The 23-year-old Nigerian striker played a crucial role in Leverkusen’s success, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 34 games across various competitions despite facing some injury setbacks.
Boniface has continued his fine form into the current season, registering four goals and an assist in his initial six matches. Chelsea is reportedly considering a £70m deal for the former Union SG player, favoring him over other options like Victor Osimhen from Napoli due to potential cost savings on wages.
However, Boniface’s recent statements in an interview with Sporty TV have raised doubts about his willingness to move to the Premier League, emphasizing his preference for German and Spanish football leagues.
While Chelsea scouts have been keeping a close watch on Boniface, exploring alternative options such as Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, Leverkusen will aim to retain their prized asset valued at €40m with four years remaining on his contract, following previous interest from clubs like Manchester United.
