Borno begins second verification exercise of flood victims

The Borno State Government has initiated a second round of verification for over 7,000 individuals affected by recent flooding in Limanti Ward, located within the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council. The Chairman of the State Flood Relief Distribution Committee, Bukar Gujibawu, stated that the purpose of this exercise is to ensure a fair and transparent distribution process for the flood victims. He emphasized the committee’s dedication to conducting a thorough verification process to include all affected individuals.

Bukar expressed satisfaction with the community’s turnout in Limanti and assured that the verification process would be carried out meticulously to avoid any oversights. He encouraged patience among the affected individuals, assuring them that every legitimate victim would be accounted for. The names of those impacted by the flood were publicly displayed at the district head’s palace for verification and feedback purposes. Additionally, a complaint desk was established on-site to address any concerns or omissions raised by the affected households.

This verification initiative follows a previous assessment in Gwange 1, where Governor Babagana Zulum oversaw the distribution of relief items to over 5,000 flood victims. The government remains committed to providing necessary assistance to those affected by the flood disaster.
