The Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission has officially confirmed the results of the 2024 Local Government Elections that took place on October 19, 2024. The All Progressives Congress emerged as the partial winners of the polls, securing victories in both chairmanship and councillorship positions.
The Commission’s Chairman commended the people of Kaduna State for their active participation in the electoral process. She announced that out of eight political parties that participated, the All Progressives Congress secured 23 chairmanship positions and 255 councillorship positions.
The ruling party’s victories were spread across various local governments including Birnin-Gwari, Chikun, Igabi, Ikara, Jaba, Jema’a, Kachia, Kaduna North, and Kaduna South, among others. The breakdown of councillorship positions showed that the APC won in multiple wards within each local government.
The Chairman highlighted the peaceful conduct of the elections and praised the efforts of all those involved in ensuring the success of the electoral process. Governor Uba Sani also expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the elections, emphasizing the significance of local government elections and urging voters to maintain peace throughout the process.
