Buhari’s ex-ministers lead APC defection train to SDP

There are indications that several former ministers of a past administration are considering joining a new political party, the Social Democratic Party. Sources reveal that around 10 former members of the previous administration’s cabinet are planning to make the move once the party structures in their respective states are finalized.

A senator in the ninth Assembly, speaking anonymously, mentioned that key figures such as a former National Chairman of a political party, a former Attorney General, and a former Senate President are among those considering defecting to the SDP.

The recent defection of a prominent figure, a former governor, to the SDP has sparked a series of similar moves by other members in the North, particularly those with a shared political background. This shift signals a growing dissatisfaction with the current direction of the ruling party.

The coalition movement involves a mix of politicians from different parties, including former governors, senators, ministers, and party officials. This movement aims to offer an alternative governance approach that prioritizes the welfare of Nigerians over personal gains.

As more politicians consider leaving their current party affiliations to join this coalition, the political landscape in the country is witnessing significant shifts. The evolving political alliances suggest a potential reconfiguration of existing party structures in the lead-up to future elections.
