Bureaucracies won’t slow Bakassi seaport project, says Oyetola

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy has assured the Cross River State Governor that he is committed to expediting the Bakassi Deep Seaport project without being hindered by bureaucratic processes.

During a courtesy visit, the minister acknowledged the natural depth of the seaport, which would minimize the need for costly dredging. He emphasized that the completion of the deep seaport would position Nigeria as a key trans-shipment hub in Africa.

The minister expressed eagerness to fast-track the project and ensure that bureaucracy does not impede progress. The governor sought collaboration with the minister to advance the Bakassi Deep Seaport Project through a public-private partnership model.

Highlighting the strategic importance of the project in boosting trade and stimulating economic growth, the governor praised the minister’s private sector background and expressed confidence in the success of the venture.

The Cross River State Governor’s delegation was welcomed by the minister and the Permanent Secretary of the ministry.
