CDS warns Sokoto residents against harbouring criminals

The head of the military forces, General Christopher Musa, has issued a stern warning to civilians residing with suspected criminals, urging them to refrain from such actions or face the repercussions. He emphasized that the military will not accept any responsibility for individuals who shelter criminals within their communities.

During a briefing with reporters at the 8 Division Headquarters in Sokoto, General Musa addressed allegations of civilian casualties in a recent operation in Silame Local Government. He stated that while the military would investigate these claims, civilians must not harbor criminals, whether they are Lakurawa or Bandits, as they risk becoming targets themselves.

General Musa emphasized the military’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the nation, urging citizens to report any criminal activities and avoid providing support to wrongdoers. He also stressed the importance of cooperation with neighboring countries in combatting threats to peace.

In a separate address to troops of Operation Fasan Yanmma, General Musa commended their dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding Nigeria’s security. He praised their efforts in countering security threats and assured them of continued support and necessary resources for their operations.

The Chief of Defence Staff concluded by expressing confidence in the Armed Forces’ ability to address security challenges effectively and achieve transformative victories in the upcoming year. He reasserted the military’s commitment to operational readiness and the well-being of its personnel and their families. Additionally, he visited troops at a military hospital to check on those receiving medical treatment.
