The Super Eagles B team from Nigeria has been placed in Group D for the 2025 African Nations Championship. They will compete against Senegal, Congo, and Sudan in this upcoming tournament to be held across Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in August. The draw, which took place in Nairobi, sets the stage for a challenging competition as Nigeria aims to secure their first title in the championship’s history.
The 2025 CHAN will feature a total of 19 teams, with 17 confirmed so far. The remaining two spots will be determined through a special qualifying round, with teams like Sierra Leone, Comoros, South Africa, Egypt, and Algeria vying for those positions. Algeria had previously withdrawn due to scheduling conflicts but may still have a chance to qualify.
This edition of the tournament is unique as it will be hosted by three East African countries simultaneously, making it the first time CHAN spans multiple nations. Other groups in the draw include Group A with Kenya, Morocco, Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia, and Group B with Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.
Uganda, another host nation, is placed in Group C alongside Niger, Guinea, and two teams yet to be determined through the qualifiers. The CHAN finals are set for August, with exact dates and fixtures to be announced in the coming months.
