China reaffirms support for Palestinian sovereignty, calls for Gaza reconstruction

A spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry reiterated China’s strong stance on the Palestinian issue, emphasizing that Gaza is an integral part of Palestinian territory and should not be subject to political manipulation or external control.

The spokesperson’s statement was in response to a suggestion by the US President regarding the US administration taking over Gaza.

Emphasizing that Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and should not be used as a bargaining tool, the spokesperson highlighted the need for international cooperation to provide humanitarian aid and support for Gaza’s reconstruction.

China stands firm in supporting the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people and opposes any efforts to forcibly displace Gaza’s residents. The spokesperson stressed the importance of Palestinians governing Palestine in the post-conflict governance of Gaza.

China remains committed to working with the global community towards a two-state solution as the basis for a just and enduring resolution to the Palestinian issue. The spokesperson expressed readiness to collaborate for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with full sovereignty based on the 1967 border and East Jerusalem as its capital.

Following a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, the spokesperson welcomed the deal and urged for its effective implementation, calling for a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. China also reiterated its dedication to providing humanitarian aid and participating in post-war reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
