Expressing deep sorrow, former Governor of Ekiti State and ex-Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Dr Kayode Fayemi, mourned the passing of elder statesman Edwin Clark. In a statement released on Tuesday by the Head of the Fayemi Media Office, Mallam Ahmad Sajoh, Fayemi lauded Clark as a patriot and a significant figure in Nigerian history. According to Fayemi, Clark’s contributions to the nation were invaluable and spanned decades, from his early public service career to his unwavering dedication to national unity and development.
Fayemi continued by highlighting Clark’s legacy as a leader who dedicated his life to Nigeria’s service, showcasing courage and commitment to the nation’s progress. Clark’s advocacy for justice, equity, and fairness, especially for the Niger Delta region and marginalized communities, was emphasized. Fayemi also acknowledged the recent passing of Clark’s longtime friend, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, underscoring their shared commitment to justice, equity, and true federalism in Nigeria, which has left a significant gap in the nation’s socio-political landscape.
