Community leader tasks new Owa Obokun on reconciliation

The Asiwaju of Ijesaland, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, has advised the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, to work towards reconciliation with anyone who may have felt upset about his appointment. Fasuyi mentioned that although the selection process may not have been flawless, it is essential for Oba Haastrup to mend relationships, particularly with the Bilaro Ruling House contestants, to mend any divisions caused by the throne competition. Fasuyi also urged all parties involved in the royal contest to set aside their differences to ensure the continued progress of Ijesaland.

During the installation ceremony, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup received the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment in the presence of various dignitaries, including Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Ooni of Ife, the Orangun of Ila, and the Oluwo of Iwo. In his inaugural speech, Oba Haastrup expressed determination to tackle land grabbing in his territory. He succeeded the late Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, who passed away at the age of 86 after ruling for over 40 years.
