Court adjourns ex-Oyo PMS chair, Auxiliary’s trial to December 20

In Fiat Court 2 of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, Justice Bayo Taiwo has rescheduled the hearing for Mukaila Lamidi, also known as Auxiliary, to December 20, 2024. The delay was due to the late arrival of the suspect to court. Despite the judge’s prompt presence, a swearing-in event for new judges in the state at the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, caused further delays. The case, bearing suit number I/74c/2024: State Versus Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary), has been adjourned from November 27 to December 5, 2024, and now pushed to December 20.

Auxiliary faces 17 charges, including armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms like an AK-47 rifle and two SMG rifles with magazines. The prosecutor referenced the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, CAP RII, Vol.14, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004, stating that the offenses fall under Section 1(2)(a) and (b) of the Act. The defendant pleaded not guilty during the reading of the charges on November 27, 2024.

The trial began with the prosecution, led by Director of Public Prosecution, S.O. Adeoye, presenting two witnesses, Fatai Isiaka (PW1) and Ademola Johnson (PW2), to provide their testimonies. Sixteen more witnesses are expected to testify against the defendant. The alleged offenses are related to incidents that took place on May 29, 2023, at Governor Seyi Makinde’s Ikolaba residence in Ibadan. The governor’s Executive Assistant on Security, Sunday Odukoya, was also present in court to witness the proceedings.
