Court remands four for N12m SUV theft

In a Lagos State Magistrate Court in Tinubu Square, four men were ordered to be remanded at the correctional center for allegedly stealing an SUV valued at N12 million. The defendants – Wale Odunlami, Salami Isiaka, Tajudeen Yekini, and Nurudeen Ogunmola – pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, stealing, and receiving stolen property brought against them by the police.

The prosecution counsel stated that Odunlami stole the Grey Toyota 4Runner vehicle on December 17, 2024, in Orile-Agege, Lagos. The other defendants were accused of receiving the stolen SUV knowing it was stolen, which belonged to Jiten Khemani.

The charges against them were said to violate specific sections of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. Despite pleading not guilty, the prosecution requested a trial date and for the defendants to be remanded until the case was resolved.

The defendants’ lawyers requested bail, assuring the court of their clients’ availability for trial. The Magistrate granted each defendant N4 million bail with two sureties, residents of Lagos State, who must show proof of tax payment for three years and means of livelihood.

The defendants were ordered to remain in custody at the correctional center until their bail conditions were met. The case was adjourned to March 10, 2025, for further proceedings.
