Customs intercept N265m hard drugs in Lagos

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal of the Nigeria Customs Service reported intercepting 51.25 kilograms of cannabis indica worth N256 million in September. The Customs Area Controller, Joy Edeldouk, handed over the seized drugs to the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Apapa, Lagos. Edeldouk stressed that the interception was in line with the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023. She highlighted the dangers of illicit substances like cannabis indica and emphasized the commitment to safeguarding borders and protecting citizens. The seized drugs and suspects were transferred to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution. Edeldouk warned against illegal importation activities and assured legitimate traders of unhindered trade facilitation. The Nigeria Customs Service, in collaboration with other agencies, would continue efforts to eliminate dangerous contraband and uphold the law.
