A global initiative called Connecting One Million Women Who Trade has formed a partnership with the World Bank to empower one million women traders worldwide.
The initiative, which was launched in Lagos, aims to eliminate gender barriers and enhance economic growth through trade.
The Connecting One Million Women Who Trade (CWT) program plans to establish a network of 10,000 business associations and cooperatives to offer resources, training, and capital to women entrepreneurs in Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean.
CWT intends to provide women with expertise, training, access to capital, and drive economic growth by empowering women entrepreneurs.
The initiative acknowledges the significant potential of women in trade and aims to create a supportive ecosystem for female entrepreneurs to flourish by promoting collaboration and breaking down barriers.
The pre-launch phase began in October 2023 and engaged with various stakeholders, including the World Bank, George Washington University, Ronald Reagan Trade Centre, United Nations Headquarters, National Black Chambers of Commerce, Prosper Africa, and Amazon.
