An announcement was made regarding the first export of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to Cameroon by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Neptune Oil, signaling a milestone in regional energy collaboration.
The joint effort aims to enhance economic ties between Nigeria and Cameroon while addressing the growing energy needs in the area. Plans are in place to establish a steady supply chain to stabilize fuel prices and generate new economic prospects in the region.
Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of the Dangote Group, expressed the significance of this shipment, emphasizing the vision for a unified and self-reliant Africa through the exchange of African resources within the continent.
The Dangote Refinery, known as Africa’s largest single-train refinery with a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, plays a vital role in meeting Nigeria’s fuel demands and strengthening its position in the regional energy sector.
This export not only provides Cameroon with access to locally sourced petroleum products, reducing its dependence on imports but also showcases Dangote Refinery’s capability to cater to domestic needs and expand its influence in the regional market.
Neptune Oil’s Director, Antoine Ndzengue, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership with Dangote Refinery for Cameroon, stressing the enhancement of energy security and support for local economic progress.
The collaboration signifies a shift towards independent and efficient market service, eliminating the need for international intermediaries and reinforcing Cameroon’s energy sector.
