The police commissioner in Delta State has instructed the re-arrest of two suspects, Ovakporaye Jobome and Debi, who escaped from police custody. The Divisional Police Officer of the Ovwian/Aladja Division, along with his team, has been summoned to provide an explanation for the incident. This escape followed a petition from the Aladja Community in Udu Local Government Area to the Inspector General of Police. A senior officer from the Delta State Police Command confirmed that the commissioner has taken swift action by ordering the re-arrest of the suspects and initiating an investigation into the matter.
The suspects were initially apprehended by the Aladja Security Crack Team and handed over to the Ovwian/Aladja Police Station. However, they managed to escape, causing outrage within the community. The Aladja Community Council expressed concerns over the escape of these dangerous criminals and demanded accountability from the police officers involved. They called for urgent intervention by higher authorities to restore public confidence in law enforcement and address security challenges in the area.
The community’s petition highlighted the need for immediate action to prevent further security issues and emphasized the importance of effective law enforcement in maintaining public safety.
