The national basketball team of Nigeria, known as D’Tigers, achieved an impressive comeback victory of 87-67 against Uganda in their second Group B qualifier in Tripoli. This win brings them closer to securing a spot in the 2025 AfroBasket finals.
After a slow start where Uganda led at half-time, D’Tigers showcased a remarkable performance in the second half, winning both the third and fourth quarters convincingly.
Key players in the game were Caleb Agada, who scored 20 points and contributed significantly in assists and steals, Ike Nwamu with 18 points, and Talib Zanna with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
This victory follows their win against Libya and marks a turnaround for D’Tigers after a challenging first phase in February. Their next crucial match against Cape Verde could determine their qualification for the finals in Angola.
A win against Cape Verde would secure Nigeria’s place in the championship, signifying a remarkable comeback from their earlier struggles in the qualifying campaign.
