The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, during the recent alumni reunion of the University of Uyo, emphasized the importance of alumni giving back to their alma mater for its growth and development.
He stressed that alumni worldwide play a vital role in supporting their former institutions after graduation and that neglecting one’s alma mater while pursuing personal success is counterproductive.
The President of the Uniuyo Alumni Association highlighted the association’s achievements and urged for support in securing the university’s take-off grant and addressing its challenges.
Guest speaker Inam Wilson discussed the significance of universities building strong community ties and the need for internal resource generation rather than solely relying on external funding.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism commended the enduring bond among graduates and the shared values instilled by the university.
The event also included the recognition of outstanding alumni and the induction of new members.
