On a stretch of the Ife/Osu highway, two vehicles were victimized by armed robbers. The criminals, reportedly numbering around eight, halted a commercial bus and a private car traveling from Lagos. Passengers were forced off the vehicles, robbed of cash and possessions, and coerced to transfer money via ATM cards. During the ordeal, the robbers shot the bus driver and sexually assaulted a female passenger. Some passengers managed to escape into the nearby bush and alerted authorities. Shortly after the robbers fled, law enforcement and local security groups arrived on the scene and apprehended one suspect. Osun State Police’s Acting Public Relations Officer confirmed the arrest, stating that the investigation was ongoing.
