The Edo State Commissioner for Education highlighted the commitment of the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration to improving the quality of education for students in the state. They introduced Edo Cert 2.0, a digital platform allowing students to access their certificates online easily. The government has achieved significant milestones in just over 100 days in office, addressing infrastructure issues in schools and enhancing the education system.
Efforts have been made to renovate and reconstruct deteriorating schools, with specific examples such as Eweka Primary School, Oruma Primary School, Irrua Girls, and others. The government also approved the employment of 500 teachers and increased the subvention of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. Additionally, there is a focus on skill acquisition through technical education, recognizing the importance of practical skills alongside formal education.
Part of the administration’s accomplishments includes the induction of previously overlooked medical doctors from AAU and the accreditation of eight courses in state tertiary institutions. Overall, the government is working tirelessly to ensure that every child in Edo has access to quality education in a conducive environment.
