The political landscape in Edo State became heated as the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed over an alleged plan by the PDP to hold a protest at the Attorney General of the Federation’s office in Abuja concerning the legal dispute surrounding the Edo State governorship election. The Edo APC Chairman accused the PDP of attempting to influence the ongoing governorship election tribunal through this protest.
The Edo State Election Petitions Tribunal recently reserved judgment on the petition filed by the PDP and its governorship candidate challenging the outcome of the governorship election won by the APC candidate. The PDP’s planned rally in Abuja was defended as a peaceful demonstration to address concerns about the election process.
During the tribunal proceedings, witnesses were presented to support claims of over-voting and other irregularities in the election. Both sides presented their arguments, with the APC emphasizing the lack of substantial evidence from the petitioners to prove their case of non-compliance.
The tribunal reserved judgment after hearing arguments from all parties involved. The date for the judgment will be communicated at a later time, marking a crucial moment in the legal battle over the Edo State governorship election.
