Authorities from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have apprehended two individuals for allegedly selling Nigerian currency on the streets in Lagos.
The arrested suspects, identified as Adeoti Folake and Adewuyi, were taken into custody on March 21. Following the arrest, a total of N3,850,000 and N1,600,000 were seized from the suspects.
A statement released by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, mentioned that the Lagos Directorate 1 operatives carried out the arrest for their involvement in the illegal trade of Naira notes.
“The suspects, Adeoti Folake and Adewuyi Modupe, were caught in Lagos on March 21, 2025, allegedly selling Naira notes on the streets. Upon their apprehension, N3,850,000 and N1,600,000 were confiscated from them. The suspects will face legal charges after the investigation is completed,” said Oyewale.
