EFCC raids ponzi scheme academy, arrests 133 suspects in Abuja

In Abuja, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission conducted a successful operation on a Ponzi scheme academy known as Q University, also referred to as Q-Net, resulting in the arrest of 133 individuals on Monday, March 24, 2025. The raid took place in the Compensation Layout area of Gwagwalada, within the Federal Capital Territory. Acting on intelligence reports, the EFCC targeted the academy for allegedly deceiving young Nigerians into a fraudulent scheme disguised as a wealth-building program.

The EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, disclosed that the suspects were promised unrealistic profit returns through the recruitment of other individuals into the scheme. The academy operated by offering a training program titled “Special Training for New Generation Billionaire,” where participants were misled into believing they could achieve billionaire status upon completion. To enroll, individuals had to purchase an Independent Representative Application Form, lured in by slogans such as “I’m a Champion,” “I’m Unstoppable,” and “I’m Infinity.”

During the raid, conducted in collaboration with the 176 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army, authorities seized mobile phones, computers, and other electronic devices from the suspects. Oyewale confirmed that the arrested individuals would face charges in court once investigations are finalized.
