EFCC vows to stop bandits’ financial flows

In a recent statement, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), emphasized the agency’s commitment to monitoring bank transactions to prevent financial flows to criminals, including bandits and terrorists.

The Chairman also discussed the link between corruption and insecurity, highlighting how corruption contributes to poverty, making individuals susceptible to engaging in criminal activities like banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

During the 2024 Annual Civil-Military Conference held at the National Defence College in Abuja, these points were reiterated by the EFCC representative, stressing the importance of curbing the flow of funds, especially in banking transactions, to disrupt the financial incentives driving criminal behavior.

Addressing the audience, he emphasized the detrimental impact of corruption on national security and development, calling for a collective effort to combat this challenge that hinders the nation’s progress and deprives it of essential resources for infrastructure and services.

The Minister of State for Police Affairs also emphasized the need for a united front in addressing insecurity, stating that security is a shared responsibility that requires collaboration between citizens, law enforcement agencies, and the government to combat the threats effectively.
