Ekiti furniture makers count losses as fire guts workshop

In Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, two furniture makers, aged 45 and 53, faced a devastating loss when a fire destroyed their workshop and store. The artisans, Bamidele Olasunkanmi and Ajibola Olagoke, were left in despair as they watched everything they had worked for go up in flames at Irewolede Estate Second Gate along Ado-Ilawe Road.

The cause of the fire remains unknown to Olasunkanmi and Olagoke. They received a distress call while at work and rushed back to find their workplace engulfed in flames. Despite efforts to seek help from firefighters, the damage was irreversible by the time assistance arrived.

The men expressed their deep concern over the loss of tools, equipment, and products critical to their business. They had invested heavily, even taking loans, to run their operations. Now, they face uncertainty about rebuilding and repaying debts.

Olasunkanmi and Olagoke called for support from the state government and compassionate individuals to aid them in overcoming this challenging situation. Their inventory, including industrial machines, sewing equipment, generators, and finished furniture pieces, was all destroyed in the fire.

A sympathizer, Oluwaseyi Ajayi, shared how he witnessed the impact on the duo and emphasized the urgent need for assistance and solidarity during this difficult time.
