The Governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji, extended congratulations to Major-General Olufemi Oluyede on his recent appointment as the acting Chief of Army Staff by the President. The governor expressed gratitude to the President for recognizing General Oluyede’s merit for the position. Oluyede’s appointment as the acting COAS was announced by the presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, after the substantive COAS, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, became indisposed.
Prior to this new role, Oluyede served as the 56th Commander of the elite Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army in Jaji, Kaduna. Both Oluyede and Lagbaja share a history as members of the 39th Regular Course, having been commissioned as officers in 1987.
Governor Oyebanji expressed full confidence in Oluyede’s capabilities, highlighting his integrity and accomplishments in the military. He encouraged the new acting COAS to leverage his experience for the critical task ahead. The governor also sent well wishes for a speedy recovery to the indisposed Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja. The Ekiti State government, through the governor, conveyed best wishes to General Oluyede for success in his new role, thanking the President for his deserving elevation.
