Ekiti monarch laments poor telecom services, questions tariff hike

The former Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Adebanji Alabi, has raised concerns about telecommunications service providers increasing tariffs without improving services for Nigerians.

Alabi expressed disappointment at the poor services provided by a mobile telecom company, stating that many communities in Nigeria are facing similar challenges.

In a statement released in Ilawe Ekiti, Alabi questioned the rationale behind raising tariffs while service quality remains low, emphasizing the need for improved services to justify any tariff increases.

Alabi had previously written to the telecom company on behalf of his community, urging them to address the service issues that have persisted for over two months.

He called on the National Communication Commission to intervene and address the substandard services provided by the company in Ilawe Ekiti.

Alabi stressed that while companies have the right to adjust tariffs based on service quality, it is unfair to raise prices without delivering satisfactory services.

He reiterated the community’s plea for the telecom company to enhance its services in the area.
