The head of Edo State Sports Commission, expressed his admiration for Bendel Insurance following their impressive 2-1 victory against league leaders Remo Stars in Benin. The Benin Arsenals secured the win with two goals from captain Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
In a post-match interview, he praised the team’s exceptional performance and commended their resilience in defeating the top-ranked team. He also acknowledged their remarkable progress from battling relegation to now holding the 7th position in the league.
He reassured the team of the state government’s support towards the players’ and officials’ welfare. The chairman credited the players and coaching staff for their hard work, highlighting the positive transformation of Bendel Insurance.
The captain, Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi, was praised for his leadership, with the team currently positioned 7th in the league and aiming for a top-four finish. Emphasizing teamwork and determination, he encouraged the players to maintain their performance for continued success.
Following the match, Oritseweyinmi was named Man of the Match and awarded N150,000, presented by the Edo State Commissioner for Information and the head of Edo State Sports Commission.
