#EndSARS: Police recover rifles stolen from armoury during protest

The Lagos State Police Command recently announced the recovery of three rifles that were part of the weapons stolen during the #EndSARS protest. The Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olanrewaju, made this revelation while parading suspects at the state command headquarters. The rifles were discovered on December 27, 2024, hidden in a bag on the rooftop of a building in the Lagos Island area. These weapons were identified as part of the arsenal taken from the Ebutte Ero Police Station during the protest.

The Commissioner mentioned that the rifles, which were in various states of disrepair, had been refurbished by experts in the command. He emphasized that the guns have been returned to the Division they were taken from. Additionally, the Command mourned the loss of three police officers in the line of duty in 2024.

In another development, a suspect was paraded for allegedly kidnapping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl. The girl was reported missing and later found pregnant, with her abductors demanding ransom from her parents for her release. The Commissioner shared that similar cases were being addressed, with 16 ladies already rescued from comparable circumstances.

The Commissioner highlighted the issue of what he termed “constructive kidnap,” where individuals, especially young women, are lured under false pretenses to different locations for nefarious purposes. He cautioned the public about such schemes and the dangers they pose.
