A familiar face, David Moyes, has made a return as Everton manager after Sean Dyche’s departure, the Premier League club confirmed on Saturday.
The club’s statement highlighted Moyes’ extensive experience, having previously managed Everton for over 500 matches from 2002 to 2013.
Dyche was relieved of his duties by Everton after a series of poor performances, with the team securing only one win in their last 11 games, placing them just above the Premier League relegation zone.
Former player Leighton Baines and captain Seamus Coleman will oversee the FA Cup match against Peterborough following Dyche’s departure.
Everton’s recent form has been concerning, with the team currently sitting in 16th place in the Premier League and struggling to find the back of the net in their matches.
Dyche took on the managerial role at Everton in January 2023, guiding the team to Premier League survival with a crucial win over Bournemouth on the final day of the season.
Despite challenges, Dyche managed to maintain Everton’s top-flight status last season, even with the club facing point deductions for breaching the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play regulations.
