Establish security trust fund, Ondo lawmaker tells Aiyedatiwa

A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly recently proposed the establishment of a security trust fund to enhance the state’s security measures. The assembly member representing Okitipupa Constituency II voiced this recommendation during a plenary session, advocating for increased collaboration between various security agencies and the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun.

The assembly member expressed concern over recent attacks by suspected herdsmen that led to the unfortunate deaths of two farmers in Uba Akoko. He urged the Nigeria Army, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other security agencies to work closely with Amotekun to curb criminal activities in the state. Additionally, he urged the governor to promptly establish the security trust fund board as mandated by law.

Acknowledging the governor’s efforts in addressing security challenges, including the provision of 25 Hilux vehicles to security agencies, the assembly member emphasized the importance of empowering Amotekun and similar security agencies. He commended the Speaker of the Assembly and fellow lawmakers for their continuous support for these security initiatives.
