The Economic Community of West African States has addressed concerns related to allegations of terrorism sponsorship directed at Nigeria and other member states. In a recent statement, ECOWAS dismissed these accusations as baseless and inconsistent with Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to regional peace and security. The organization commended Nigeria’s leadership in the Multinational Joint Task Force for its successes in combating terrorism and maintaining stability in West Africa, emphasizing the country’s broader role as a peace pillar on the African continent.
ECOWAS firmly rejected any insinuation that Nigeria, a country known for its generosity and dedication to stability, could be involved in sponsoring terrorism. The commission called on all regional states to prioritize dialogue and cooperation while discouraging unfounded accusations that could disrupt unity and peace efforts.
