An African B2B e-commerce platform, OmniRetail, has appointed Steve Dakayi as the Country Lead for Ivory Coast to spearhead its expansion into Francophone Africa.
Dakayi joins OmniRetail following the closure of BetaStore, a B2B e-commerce startup he established in 2020. With a decade of experience in e-commerce and a background as a commercial and fulfillment lead at Jumia, Dakayi is set to leverage his expertise in key markets where OmniRetail is venturing.
OmniRetail’s strategic move into Francophone Africa aligns with its vision for expansion into regions like Cameroon, Senegal, and Cote d’Ivoire, as highlighted by Amber Yadav, OmniRetail’s Head of Retail Division.
Similar to the growth seen in the B2B e-commerce sector, OmniRetail recognizes the growth potential in Francophone Africa due to factors such as stable currency and high economic growth rates. This presents an opportunity for companies like OmniRetail to thrive in these markets.
Dakayi emphasized the underestimated potential of Francophone Africa, citing the rise in the middle class and increased purchasing power as significant growth drivers. He believes that OmniRetail’s focus on FMCG will resonate well with consumers in these regions.
As OmniRetail gears towards profitability and aims to establish itself as a leading e-commerce platform in Africa, Dakayi’s appointment signals a strategic step in the company’s expansion plans.
