FG sympathises with S’Korea as 179 die in plane crash

The recent crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216 in South Korea has deeply saddened the Federal Government. The incident took place on December 29, 2024, as the Boeing 737-800 attempted to land at Muan International Airport, resulting in a tragic outcome.

Regrettably, the plane skidded off the runway, crashing into a wall and igniting a fiery explosion. Among the 181 individuals on board, 179 lost their lives, with only two survivors.

In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa extended condolences to the affected families and conveyed solidarity with South Korea in this challenging period.

Nigeria expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and reiterated its support for the people of South Korea.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Republic of Korea for the tragic crash of Jeju Air Flight 2216 on December 29th, 2024,” the statement mentioned.

The Federal Government stands with South Korea and the families of the victims during this grievous plane crash.
