The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development under the Federal Government is set to empower over 4.5 million women across Nigeria with the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up initiative. The initiative aims to provide economic inclusion, financial empowerment, and access to essential skills and resources to women across the country. The urgency to implement this project was emphasized by the Minister of Women Affairs and the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, highlighting the importance of unity and collaboration among women.
The project, approved in June 2023, is geared towards uplifting women and improving their livelihoods. The World Bank Group’s approval of a $500 million funding for the initiative further solidifies support for the project. The Minister stressed the need for immediate action and clear commitments to drive implementation at the state level, ensuring that every woman benefits from the program.
The Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up aligns with the goal of empowering 10 million Nigerian women under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The Minister assured that the Federal Government is fully committed to the success of the project, with plans for a high-profile Presidential launch in the coming month. The Permanent Secretary echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of providing women with the necessary tools and opportunities to thrive as vital contributors to the nation’s economy and society.
