A fire incident occurred at Alagbede Tipper Garage in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State, resulting in the destruction of three out of 42 trucks parked at the location. The fire, which began around 1:45 a.m., originated from a waste collection truck with refuse inside and spread to two other trucks before being contained by firefighters. The Kwara State Fire Service confirmed the incident, stating that the fire was caused by lit charcoal in the refuse.
The Principal Fire Officer and spokesperson for the Kwara State Fire Service highlighted the importance of vigilance and adherence to fire safety measures to prevent such incidents. In a separate incident at No. 1 Awolowo Road, Tanke, Ilorin, a shop was destroyed in a fire outbreak. The fire service responded promptly to the distress call, preventing the blaze from spreading to a second shop. Investigations revealed that the fire at the shop originated from a solar battery.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service emphasized the need for the public to follow safety protocols, especially in the installation of solar power systems in well-ventilated areas. The service assured residents of its dedication to safeguarding lives and property through proactive fire prevention and emergency response efforts.
