Five arrested for Niger teenager’s death during clash

Five individuals on the run have been apprehended by law enforcement for their alleged involvement in the death of a 15-year-old named Saidu Udu during a gang clash in Minna, the capital of Niger State. The clash, which reportedly stemmed from a dispute over the distribution of Christmas money among the hoodlums involved, escalated into a violent confrontation where weapons like knives and cutlasses were brandished, leading to the fatal stabbing of Udu.

Eyewitnesses described the chaotic scene, with over 50 hoodlums engaging in threats and violence, forcing residents to flee the area. The clash highlighted ongoing issues with hoodlums and miscreants in Minna, who have been causing distress to the community by engaging in criminal activities without fear of repercussions from law enforcement.

Despite efforts by security agencies to curb their activities, these hoodlums have continued to terrorize residents, extorting valuables and instigating violence. The recent clash in Maitumbi serves as a grim reminder of the challenges faced by authorities in maintaining peace and order in the area.

The police have confirmed the incident and are actively pursuing other suspects involved in the clash. An investigation is underway, and measures are being taken to address the ongoing threat posed by these criminal elements.
