Five suspects arraigned for stealing N25m Milo truck

Five individuals recently stood trial at the Magistrate Court in Ota, Ogun State, accused of stealing a truckload of Milo products valued at N25 million. The defendants, ranging in age from 26 to 51, face charges of theft and conspiracy for their alleged involvement in the incident that occurred in October 2020 in Agbara, Ogun State.

The prosecutor outlined the accusations, stating that the defendants conspired to commit the theft, which is a violation of the Criminal Law of Ogun State. According to the charges, the defendants were involved in the theft of 44 pallets of Nestle Milo products, valued at N25 million, belonging to Nestle Nigeria Plc.

The prosecutor emphasized that the defendants collaborated in the theft of the Milo products. The charges brought against them are in violation of specific sections of the Criminal Law of Ogun State. Despite the allegations, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate presiding over the case granted bail to each defendant at N500,000 with specific conditions, including the requirement of two sureties who are employed and reside within the court’s jurisdiction. The Magistrate also mandated that the sureties present evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government. The case has been adjourned for further proceedings on December 12.
