Four individuals involved in drug trafficking have been sentenced to a combined total of 95 years in prison by the Federal High Courts in Lagos and Yola, Adamawa State. They were convicted for trafficking cocaine and skunk valued at over N4.6 billion. The convicted individuals had their luxury vehicles forfeited to the Federal Government.
One of the convicts, identified as Ogbuji Christian Ifeanyi, was apprehended with a significant amount of cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. He was found importing a large quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of N4.65 billion. Despite previous arrests and convictions, Ogbuji continued his criminal activities, resulting in additional charges and imprisonment.
Another convict, Iloduba Augustine Chinonye, was caught with cocaine at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu. After a lengthy legal process, he was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison for his involvement in drug trafficking.
Two other individuals, Shuaibu Nuhu Isa and Zidon Zurga, were also convicted for trafficking skunk along the Numan-Yola Road. They used vehicles to conceal the illicit drugs and were sentenced to 35 years imprisonment each.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has been actively pursuing and prosecuting individuals involved in drug trafficking to combat the illegal drug trade within the country.
