French woman gets life jail for starving daughter to death

A woman from France, Sandrine Pissarra, has been given a life sentence for the death of her daughter, who passed away in 2020 at the age of 13 due to severe abuse. Pissarra, 54, was found guilty of subjecting her daughter Amandine to torture and cruelty in Montpellier. The verdict mandates at least 20 years of imprisonment before parole eligibility. Additionally, Pissarra’s former partner, Jean-Michel Cros, 49, received a 20-year prison sentence for neglecting Amandine’s care. Amandine’s tragic passing revealed she had suffered immensely, enduring physical abuse, malnutrition, and confinement. The court recognized the severity of the crimes committed and delivered the maximum penalties in accordance with the prosecution’s requests.
