FRSC pledges to reduce crashes in Anambra

The Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State is dedicated to reducing road accidents by enhancing visibility and enforcing regulations in the region. The Sector Commander, Joyce Alexander, made this clear during a press conference in Awka. Alexander highlighted the importance of raising awareness and ensuring strict enforcement of traffic laws to align with the new Corps Marshall’s goal of zero tolerance for road accidents.

She emphasized the intention to elevate the presence of FRSC in Anambra by deploying personnel across the state and installing road signs. While not actively recruiting, operations will be revamped to improve performance visibly. Collaboration with the government and other agencies is also on the agenda to enhance service delivery and address issues like over-speeding.

Additionally, efforts will be made to ensure transporters comply with speed-limiting devices on their vehicles. Non-compliant transporters will face consequences, including the installation of the device before reclaiming their vehicles. The media was recognized as a crucial partner in road safety management, with calls for increased cooperation to facilitate enforcement through public education and awareness.
