A member of a political party, Buba Galadima, criticized the Social Democratic Party, claiming it is essentially a part of the ruling All Progressives Congress. During an interview, Galadima expressed doubt regarding the SDP’s independence, suggesting that it consists mainly of former APC members. He questioned the authenticity of the SDP and highlighted the lack of significant defections from other parties to the SDP.
Galadima’s comments were made in light of recent political movements, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s switch from the APC to the SDP. El-Rufai’s efforts to rally support within the SDP to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming election were also mentioned.
Furthermore, Galadima criticized the trend of opposition politicians rejoining the APC after elections, citing the example of Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, who returned to the APC due to internal issues within the PDP. Galadima emphasized the importance of standing by principles in opposition politics, rather than opportunistic moves for power.
Despite political maneuvers, Galadima emphasized that his party, the NNPP, prioritizes ideology and principles over seeking power through coalitions. He stated that the party is focused on growing its platform and aims to achieve success in national elections in the future.
