The Odo Iya Alaro Bridge in the Maryland area of Lagos State has been reopened by the Lagos State Government after a brief closure. The rehabilitation of the bridge was completed earlier than expected, with the Ministry of Works overseeing the project. The Commissioner for Transport, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted that the bridge’s reopening would improve traffic flow between the Mainland and Island.
The rehabilitation work, which began in July, was finished in under two months, contrary to the initial 90-day timeline. Osiyemi expressed gratitude to the public for their patience and cooperation during the construction period, emphasizing the role of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) in managing traffic.
Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, during the reopening, warned against vandalism and scavenging activities that could jeopardize government property. Osiyemi concluded by thanking the residents of Lagos State for their ongoing support in the city’s development.
