A group involved in agro-allied activities, the Economic Empowerment of Women and Youth in Livestock Agriculture (EEWYLA), has announced plans to provide training to 7,200 livestock breeders by 2027.
The coordinator of EEWYLA and founder of Oriyon International Ltd., shared this information in a recent statement.
The initiative, a collaboration between Oriyon International Ltd. and the Benue State Agricultural Development Company, aims to empower breeders by integrating them into a system that offers access to global markets and opportunities for growth.
The coordinator mentioned that the program utilizes advanced blockchain technology developed by RUMER.NG to empower marginalized groups through this partnership with the government.
EEWYLA’s approach includes training, mentorship, and access to innovative tools to support breeders in the livestock sector.
Participants will receive practical training in small ruminant farming, focusing on goats and sheep, and will work towards certification from the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science.
The initiative’s collaboration with RUMER.NG, a blockchain platform ensuring traceability in the livestock value chain, is a notable feature that guarantees compliance with international standards and addresses industry challenges.
The program places emphasis on women, youth, and People With Disabilities, offering them support such as starter herds, land access, and opportunities in the global market.
Beneficiaries will also benefit from Forward Purchasing Agreements and certified breeding colonies to ensure consistent income and market demand.
Through mechanized processing facilities, the EEWYLA initiative aims to promote income generation and environmental sustainability by implementing a zero-waste model.
The coordinator urged stakeholders to support the initiative, highlighting its potential to enhance the competitiveness of Nigerian farmers in the global market.
“This partnership is a significant step towards showcasing Nigerian livestock internationally. It offers empowerment, sustainability, and a promising economic future for the sector,” she emphasized.
