In a recent incident, unidentified gunmen attacked the residence of the Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, resulting in the unfortunate death of a police officer named Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal. The officer was shot during the attack and succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating that the officer was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Three suspects have been apprehended in connection with the attack, and investigations are ongoing.
Although details about any other potential victims remain unclear, security operatives managed to prevent the assailants from gaining entry into the residence. An eyewitness revealed that the chairman and his family were present during the attack.
