GWR: Arowolo targets world record after completing 12-hour challenge

A Nigerian boxer known as “Ugly Wolf,” whose real name is Damilare Arowolo, has set a new personal goal of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest marathon on a punching bag. His recent 12-hour challenge at Wembley Gym, Ogba, Lagos, was a successful step towards this ambitious target.

Arowolo took to social media to express his gratitude for the support received and hinted at his next challenge to break the Guinness World Record. He aims to surpass the current record set by Indian martial artist Sidhu Kshetri in November 2023, who achieved a time of 55 hours and 15 minutes.

His support team, Gloves for Africa, commended his determination and announced plans for the upcoming 60-hour attempt to secure the Guinness World Record. Arowolo’s dedication was evident in his previous five-hour punching session held on February 12, showcasing his commitment to building the required endurance.

If successful, Arowolo will not only break the current record but also become the first African to achieve this feat, setting a new benchmark for endurance sports. This milestone could potentially inspire future generations of Nigerian athletes to pursue similar challenges.

The current record holder, Kshetri, achieved his record after a challenging 55-hour and 15-minute punching marathon in India. Arowolo, a prominent figure in Nigerian boxing, sees these challenges as opportunities to raise awareness for his record-breaking endeavors and elevate the sport in his country.
