A distinguished alumnus of Harvard University and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Abdullahi Hashim, commended the Executive Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources, Dr Muhammadu Indimi, for the successful inauguration of the first funded Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel at the Drydocks World Dubai Shipyard in the United Arab Emirates.
Hashim, who is affiliated with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria and the College of Diplomacy and International Relations, praised Indimi’s initiative as a groundbreaking achievement that will have a positive impact on the petroleum sector.
Similarly, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Civil Engineers referred to Indimi as someone with a remarkable touch.
He stated, “The successful completion and commissioning of the Okwok Field’s Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel/platform in Dubai is a significant development in Nigeria’s oil industry. This marks the first FPSO entirely funded by a Nigerian company and underscores Indimi’s leadership and vision in the sector.
“This achievement signifies the growing capacity of Nigerian companies to execute complex projects in the oil industry independently. The successful establishment of the FPSO is a crucial step towards empowering indigenous oil and gas firms to develop oil fields autonomously.
“This investment will not only enhance economic growth and create job opportunities but also contribute to the overall development of the oil sector and the country’s economy.”
Vice President Kashim Shettima recently commissioned the $315m FPSO built in Dubai by Indimi’s Oriental Energy Resources Limited.
He mentioned, “The FPSO, with a storage capacity of one million barrels, will initially produce 17,000 barrels per day and aims to increase to 30,000 bpd.
“The vessel is scheduled to depart for Nigeria in Q1 2025 and start production at the Okwok Oil Field in the first half of 2025.”
Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning ceremony in Dubai, emphasized that the FPSO signifies more than just a maritime project.
The Vice President also hailed the FPSO as a symbol of national ambition and a testament to the success of President Tinubu’s reforms in the oil sector.
