How COVID-19 outbreak transformed Edo’s healthcare delivery- Obaseki

The Governor of Edo State shared that the progress in the health sector was influenced by the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized the need for a responsive healthcare system following the pandemic’s onset. The rebuilding of Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology was inspired by the Governor’s experience during the pandemic, aiming to train healthcare personnel to handle emergencies effectively.

Decentralizing healthcare delivery across the state through primary healthcare centers was a key initiative of the Governor’s administration. Upgrading healthcare facilities like the Stella Obasanjo Hospital was also a priority to enhance healthcare services in the state.

The Governor highlighted the importance of building a robust healthcare system, emphasizing the need for trained healthcare workers. He expressed satisfaction with the establishment of primary health centers to serve local communities efficiently.

The event also saw the proposal of an exchange program between Edo and Zamfara states to enhance healthcare training. The matriculation of a new class of undergraduates into the college marked a significant milestone during the event.
