HP to empower Nigerian youths, adults for digital economy

HP Inc introduced the 2025 Digital Equity Accelerator program to empower individuals who have historically lacked access to technology with the essential skills needed to thrive in today’s digital economy. The program aims to promote a more inclusive world by providing access to technology, digital literacy, AI, and quality skills content.

The Global Head of Social Impact at HP Inc and Director of HP Foundation, emphasized the company’s commitment to using technology for positive change and closing the digital gap for individuals who have been left behind. The program focuses on supporting organizations to enhance their capacity and expand the reach of digital equity solutions, especially for marginalized groups.

HP announced its support for nonprofits in Greece, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Spain through the Accelerator, offering grants, technology, and programmatic support to scale digital equity initiatives. This year, HP is extending the program to four countries to broaden its impact.

The program is open to nonprofits in the mentioned countries, including those leveraging AI for social impact. Interested organizations can apply until the deadline of February 12, 2025, to be considered for the program.

With the growing demand for skilled workers globally, HP recognizes the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary skills to fill job vacancies and contribute to economic growth. By investing in AI training for women and girls, significant economic benefits can be unlocked, as highlighted in a recent report.

Since 2021, HP has been dedicated to advancing digital equity, with a goal to reach 150 million people by 2030. Having already impacted 45 million individuals by 2023, HP continues to prioritize bridging the digital divide and promoting economic inclusion through initiatives like the Digital Equity Accelerator.
