The Etsu Lokoja, HRH Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda-Shelika, Nyamkpa IV recently shared a harrowing experience where he had to escape from suspected hoodlums who attacked his palace and set his property ablaze. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, forcing the monarch to jump the fence to save himself.
Reports indicate that the attack disrupted plans for the “Lokoja ‘24 Nupe Cultural Fiesta,” an event organized by the Nupe natives of Lokoja Development Union. The monarch expressed dismay over the unfortunate turn of events, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Despite the challenging situation, Dauda-Shelika urged calm among the Nupe community in Lokoja, advising against any form of retaliation. He called on the government and security agencies to intervene and ensure a comprehensive investigation into the attack.
Efforts to obtain official comments from the police and state authorities were met with challenges, as officials declined to speak on the matter or respond to inquiries. The situation remains unresolved as stakeholders await further action from the relevant authorities.
